Image & PDF to Text

Extract English & Hindi text from a photo, scan or PDF (OCR).

100% private. Everything runs inside your browser — your files are never uploaded to any server.
The first time you use a language, your browser downloads its data and saves it (English about 8 MB; Hindi uses a larger high-accuracy model, ~12 MB more). After that it’s fast. Everything runs on your device.

Frequently asked questions

What does this tool do?

It reads the text inside an image or a scanned PDF and gives you that text so you can copy, search or edit it. This is called OCR (Optical Character Recognition). It supports English and Hindi.

Is my image or PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The recognition runs entirely inside your browser on your own device, so your file is never uploaded anywhere.

Why is it slow the first time?

The first run downloads the OCR engine and the language data. English is about 8 MB; Hindi uses a larger high-accuracy model (around 12 MB more). Your browser then saves it, so later runs are much faster. Recognition itself is heavy work, so it takes a little time, especially on older phones.

How accurate is it, especially for Hindi?

It works best on clear, typed text and good scans. For Hindi it uses the high-accuracy Devanagari model, but handwriting, blurry or tilted photos, uneven lighting and fancy fonts will still cause mistakes. For the best result: use a sharp, straight, well-lit photo, pick the single correct language instead of English + Hindi, and crop to just the text you need.
